The blood sample for the blood

STI screen is taken by pricking your finger with a small sharp lancet; the same sort of needles used by people with diabetes for checking blood sugar. A very small amount of blood is needed, but some samples may be rejected by the laboratory because there isn’t enough. Do contact us to know how this is done before trying to collect the sample

You can proceed to post the blood sample for the blood STI screen using the postage-paid plastic envelope. Please allow time for this to reach the laboratory.

Duration: 1 working day (excluding postal delivery times)

Your blood test result will be e-mailed to you.

Also, note that this is not an instant home test. We will send you a blood test collection kit (by finger prick), and you will then send the sample to the laboratory in the postage-paid envelope that comes with it.

If you would like to do this test at the laboratory in London, then please contact us.

HIV TEST

This is the most recent and detailed HIV test. Usually, it is a blood test that includes the following:

  • HIV-1 antibodies
  • HIV-2 antibodies
  • HIV-1 p24 antigen

Why do this test? It is done to check if you have an HIV infection. You may have results within two weeks after being infected, but it may not be accurate. You should wait for four weeks for better accuracy in diagnosis. A small number of positive tests (0.5% false positive rate) will be wrong out of the 100% of infections picked up by the HIV test. Based on this, they will have to undergo a specialised HIV test to confirm an HIV infection.

There’s no need for an appointment to do the HIV test.

Duration: 1 working day.

The results of your HIV test will be e-mailed to you.
