Why do this test? This test is needed to check if you have an HIV infection. The result can show two weeks after being infected, but a more accurate result is obtained in 4 weeks.
The HIV test will pick up 100% of infections, but a small number of positive tests will be wrong (0.5% false positive rate). These will undergo a specialised HIV test to confirm an HIV infection.

This test is performed by collection of a urine or swab sample. Results are available after 4 hours of the sample being received by the laboratory. We have a dedicated courier that attends the clinic, and samples are usually undergoing pathology within 30 minutes of collection at the clinic.
