Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea is best diagnosed with a vaginal swab, but a urine test can also be used – the former is particularly preferable if you’re currently suffering from abnormal vaginal discharge.

Gonorrhoea/Chlamydia is better tested with a vaginal swab especially if you are noticing abnormal vaginal discharge. Either yourself or our staff can take the vaginal swab. However, a urine test can also be used to diagnose gonorrhoea.

Why do this test? For the common bacterial STIs in men and women, the 7 STI urine screen is the best all-in-one. The use of this test is to check for STIs with silent symptoms. It is most useful when used as part of an overall STI check when it is combined with blood tests for HIV and syphilis.Please note this test does not screen for Hepatitis, HIV or Syphilis.
PLEASE NOTE THAT PATIENTS WISHING TO PROVIDE A URINE SAMPLE SHOULD NOT HAVE PASSED URINE FOR AT LEAST 3 HOURS BEFORE PROVIDING THEIR SAMPLE.
